Catherine Dorothy Wenzel

Catherine Dorothy Wenzel, age 93 of Rosenberg, TX passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. Catherine was born to the late Leo and Minnie (Huehlefeld) Hoffer in Sweet Home, Texas on October 22, 1931.

She was married to Charles Ellis Wenzel, Sr on October 4, 1952 and had five children: Charles, Jr, Jennifer, Gregory and twins Lynn and Lynda. Catherine was thrown a curve ball when her husband passed away unexpectedly on October 31, 1972. Though it was difficult she had to push through with raising their 5 teenagers on her own.

She was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Minnie Hoffer, husband Charles Ellis Wenzel, Sr, son Gregory Lloyd Wenzel and daughter Jennifer Susan Tharp.

Survivors include her son Charles, Jr and wife Mariellen, children Trey Wenzel, Ashley Franklin and Kaydey Brewster. Twin daughters Lynn Dawson, children Tory Dawson and Lauren Prather. Lynda Davis and husband Harvey, children Breezie Reeves and Dakota Rector. Along with 19 great-grandchildren.

Ms. Wenzel was a registered nurse at Polly Ryon Hospital until 1966 at which time she chose a job that would allow her to spend more time with her family. She then became an LCISD nurse spending most of her years at Deaf Smith Elementary, retiring in 1995.

Catherine will always be remembered for her infectious personality and positive outlook on life until the day she passed. She expressed her love by making Christmas stockings that will be forever treasured by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed her Meals on Wheels delivery volunteers which she looked forward to on a daily basis. They brought a smile to her face and many kinships were developed. Her passion for puzzles and board games was undeniable.
