Charles R. “Dickie” Ridenhour, 75, was born on April 29, 1942, in Black Fork, Arkansas, and passed away peacefully on Feb. 8, 2018, in Needville, TX.

 

Charles served in the U.S. Army in Munich, Germany from 1961 to 1964, where he met and married his bride of 53 years. He and Anne moved to Rosenberg in 1965 where he worked 36 years as a millwright at Gulf States Tube-Quanex. In 2004 he began a third career with the Texas Department of Corrections as a plumbing supervisor, where he personally impacted the lives of his trustees through his mentorship and Christian faith. After his retirement in 2009, he enjoyed the love and antics of his grandchildren despite declining health. For the last 3 ½ years he was a resident of the S.P.J.S.T. Senior Living Center in Needville, TX where he received loving and compassionate care from Sandy and Staff. The memories he created with family and friends through his shared love of camping and fishing will live on in all of our hearts.

 

A visitation will be held on Mon., Feb. 12, 2018, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm in the chapel of E.P. Compean Funeral Directors.

Funeral Service will begin @ 1pm on Tues., Feb. 13, 2018, at New Covenant Fellowship Church, 1412 Brazos St., Rosenberg, TX.

Interment will be held on Fri., Feb. 16, 2018, at 10:45am at Houston National Cemetery, Houston, Texas.

 

Charles is preceded in death by parents, Ed and Marie Ridenhour.

 

He leaves behind his loving wife, Anne, his daughter, Lieutenant Colonel Heidi Jones and husband Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Jones; 2 grandchildren, Adelaide and Thomas Jones; sister, Wanda Ridenhour; brothers, Ralph Ridenhour and wife Marsha, Don “Chuck” Ridenhour, Cotton Ridenhour and wife Eydie and Glen Ed Ridenhour and wife Sue; children of the heart: Sherry and Ronnie McWhorter, Donald and David Cline, Cheryl Kunz, and Sarah Willman and lifelong friend and birthday twin Jo Meyer, along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to New Covenant Fellowship Church.
