Ernest Joseph "EJ" Dusek

Oct 23, 1946 — Oct 14, 2026

Rosenberg

Ernest Joseph “EJ” Dusek, born October 23, 1946, to Louise Lucy Beran Dusek and Alfonse John Dusek, made his journey home to Heaven on October 14, 2026, just nine days before his 80th birthday.

EJ was a proud United States Marine who served during the Vietnam War. He attended Lamar High School in Rosenberg, Texas, where he played football wearing jersey number 10 and played clarinet in the school band. He later worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, becoming a familiar face in the community.

EJ enjoyed fishing, spending time at the deer lease, welding and building barbecue pits, tending to flowers and plants, collecting coins, and traveling to Las Vegas to try his luck at the slot machines. Anyone who knew EJ knew he never passed up a coin on the ground!

EJ also had a memorable way of bringing flowers home. Since he didn’t believe in spending money on them, he would visit the funeral home, check the trash cans for discarded flowers, and bring them home to his ex-wife. It was classic EJ, and a story his family will remember with laughter for years to come. He also loved his beloved dog, Rusty, and his cat, Tinkerbell.

EJ was preceded in death by his beloved brother, Daniel Dusek, and his wife, Judy. He is survived by his brother, Larry Dusek (Merilyn); his sisters, Patty Kuldanek (Scott) and Cathy Prazak (Eddie); and his children, Shannon Brazo and her husband, Greg; Gary Dusek and his wife, Amber; and April Youngblood and her husband, Mark Dustin. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry his memory forward for generations to come.

On what would have been EJ’s 80th birthday, family and friends will gather to celebrate his life and honor his memory. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 9:45 a.m. in the Chapel of E.P. Compean Funeral Directors, located at 1223 Sixth Street, Rosenberg, Texas 77471. The family will begin welcoming guests at 9:15 a.m., prior to the service.

EJ leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, and stories that will continue to be shared by those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Semper Fi, EJ. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. May you rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord.
