Frances Mary Deshais, age 80, of Richmond, TX, died Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Memorial Hermann Hospital (Sugarland) surrounded by family after a long battle with several illnesses. She is now resting without pain.
She is predeceased by her parents Harry Edward and Frances Elizabeth Barrett. Also, her brothers Harry and William Barrett, and her sisters Rita Calaf and Elizabeth Douglas. She leaves one remaining sister behind, Donna Paquin and husband Jeff, of Feeding Hills, Massachusetts, as well as many nieces and nephews to cherish her memories.
She leaves behind her daughter Cheryl Deshais and her children/grandsons Eric Deshais, John and Zachary Hernandez, with whom she lived with and was cared for during her final years. She also leaves behind her son Armand Deshais III, and his daughters Krystal, Brooke, and Amari Deshais.
Frances was named after her late mother, born on January 23, 1945, at the family home (no hospital but delivered by her father). Her famous remark to anyone who asked her for her date of birth was, “That’s an easy one to remember, 12345,” and she would chuckle. She grew up in Chicopee, Mass., from Chicopee High and Holy Name School, and raised both of her children there before moving the family to Texas. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter and her grandchildren. She leaves behind her beloved dog, Arthur, which was her 3rd child.
Before retirement she worked as an Actuary (Risk Management) with Marsh McLennan and Baylor College of Medicine as a Credentialing Specialist in Texas. Frances received her Real Estate License in Texas, worked as an Assistant Manager for both Gaylee Apparel and Gorden Jewelers, bringing her to Texas soil.
The funeral will be Friday, September 26, 2025, at E.P. Compean Funeral Directors, Rosenberg, TX, from 5:00pm to 7:30pm with a rosary being prayed at 6:00pm.
Interment will take place later at Calvary Cemetery beside both of her parents, resting in Chicopee, Massachusetts.
