Olga Wise

Olga Wise, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and the unforgettable matriarch of her family, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was 84 years old.

Olga was born on January 2, 1942, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to Florentino Ovalle and Enriquetta Mercado. Throughout her life, Olga was a woman of incredible strength, determination, and personality. She was strong-willed, fiercely independent, and never afraid to tell you exactly what was on her mind. With Olga, you never had to wonder what she was thinking—she would gladly let you know.

She married the love of her life, Charles Wise, and together they built a life centered around love and family. After Charles' passing, Olga continued to be a source of strength for those around her, caring deeply for her family and making sure they always knew just how much they were loved.

Olga was truly one of a kind. She was the diva of the family and was always beautifully dressed and put together. She carried herself with confidence, had a presence that could fill any room, and left an impression everywhere she went. To her family, she was affectionately known as the OLD "GOAT” — the Greatest of All Time — a title she earned simply by being the unforgettable woman everyone knew and adored.

Olga enjoyed “running the streets,” getting out and about, and living life on her own terms. But some of her greatest joys were the simplest ones: sitting around the table for family dinners, gathering everyone together, laughing, joking, telling stories, and enjoying the company of the people she loved most. Those moments became treasured memories that her family will carry with them forever.

Above everything else, Olga loved her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were an enormous part of her life, and the love she gave them will continue through generations.

Olga leaves behind her loving children, Marvin Wise and his wife, Rosie Salinas, and Debbra Garza and her husband, David Solis; five grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren, along with many other relatives and friends who loved and adored her.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Wise, as well as her parents, Florentino Ovalle and Enriquetta Mercado.

Olga's family will remember her for her strength, her honesty, her beautiful sense of style, her humor, and the unmistakable personality that made her Olga. They will remember the family dinners, the laughter, the joking around, her love of being on the go, and all the moments that seemed ordinary at the time but now mean everything.

There will never be another Olga Wise. She was strong, stylish, outspoken, loving, and completely unforgettable. She was the diva, the matriarch, and the OLD GOAT. Above all, she was deeply loved.

Her presence will be missed beyond measure, but the stories, laughter, love, and memories she created will remain in the hearts of her family forever.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of E.P. Compean Funeral Directors, 1223 Sixth Street, Rosenberg, Texas 77471.

A religious service will begin at 12:00 p.m.

Interment will follow immediately after the services at West Gethsemane Cemetery.
